I am sick !
When I had checked my mails this morning, this was the first mail I saw and was totally upset and I am sick ! I am sick! I am sick!
This goes way beyond my feeling of sympathy. I wish I could take on their pain emotionally or physically. A deep feeling that kills my mood is the starvation that killed those innocent lives !
I could get there by thinking about how their parents would — will — react to their deaths ! That too starving! It is crueler than any other sort of death! Even my enemies should not stuck with this kind of sufferings!
These really reminded me of those Sudan famines during 1980’s and the BBC telecasting thousands of their life's misery. Pictures of thin people with very little to eat and sometimes nothing to eat. That is an evil recipe of war, drought, displacement, disease which has brought the people to their knees.

i saw a documentary bout them on tv...it was horrible...!!! i really feel so bad!!
Susubala,
These kind of things have affected me from childhood. Whenever I attend a marriage, when the food is left uneaten, by some visitors, I used to feel pity for the girls parents after seeing those food in terms of money. I used to visualise as some money left on the leaves. That is why, I never used to leave anything on the leaf behind. If I did not want, I used to refuse before they serve me. The reason behind, is we need to realise that there are millions in this world who do not have even those kind of food. I keep telling my kids too very often and not to waste the food. We should preach this to as many as we can. It is disheartening to see in the amount of wastages in the Western World. Many of them hardly understand, how children in other part of the world are living to the extreme. I wish such things are brought to light. There was a music show all around the world to attract attention of the poverty in Africa recently. I think it was called G8. ie All the developed countries meet to wipe out the poverty in African countries. I could not avoid tears when I saw that programme. I am happy this has drawn attention and this will be a history shortly.
Hello:)
To see pictures of how people in this world really live is a great eye opener. We forget how lucky we are to have food, and a roof over our heads. I do pray for the poor, but now I try to do something for them also, because praying isn't enough, we need to be doers. Thanks for the opening my eyes again:) Take care, Elisa:)
I have seen these pics b4 Sumi..I was totally shaken by em too...but life goes on and there will be so many ppl who still waste food...yes it's sickening! I hope that those who see these pics will start to think from today...our lives r a luxusry in the eyes of those kids in Africa...
Keshi.
Ashok : The same feeling I had when I saw that ! Terrible to the core !
Michelee : Its true !
Balaji : You've got a valuable point to say about marriage occassions where lots of food are being wasted. Better, can b saved and served to poor and needy people who are really starving. I've seen many of them simply ask for the food and waste them. It is good that u r cultivating ur children in such a manner to realise what is starvation !
elisa : Thanks for the initiation and I feel proud of you and ofcourse feel fortunate that this post has really done something worth ! Thanks, onceagain Elisa !
Keshi : Well said and I feel it should be an eye-opener to many of them who waste the food. Its true that we are luxurious in the eyes of those !
Sumi:
A disturbing post indeed. but have
you read the words in the last image. If I recall correctly, it says "the vulture awaits the death of the kid and the photographer doesnt know the fate of the kid". In my personal opinion, the photographer was no different from the vulture. He got his shot, and left without attempting to carry the kid to a near by hospital or a plce where the kid could possily be treated, even if the kid was sure to die. ...
It is this lack of kindness that makes me worry...

thts too depressing...wen u see these kinda stuff..u realize tht wat we think as important things in life are not at all important..
Draj : u r correct and i do understand abt the photographer ! Even i felt sick in knowing that the photographer himself did not know what has happened to the child !
Ammu : The way u explained in tamil was ur sincere thoughts and i could catch u on those issues !
Divya : U r absolutely right abt the feelings.
pathetic..
happend 2 see this one smtime bk.
btw, thnx 4 droppin by:))
I qsn the existance of God when I read abt people starving to death....
Anyway these can be avoided by the help of the fellow human beings- US...
Sridhar : A welcome smile to u
krish : Yes, ofcourse, we need to take care off.
When I was small,my father used to constantly remind about these kids if i waste food..
what a cruelty the people in Africa and some South Americans face, i also used to tell my family members to not waste the Food and water. some kids used to put many food and will not eat the full and wast it.
Shikha : That's too gud of ur father to make u realise.
Jeevan : Its all the responsibility of thy parents to cultivate the children in such a way to make them feel about it. Like what Shikha's father has done.
very sad :(
U know my reaction.
Do we always need catalysts for reactions?
Can't we just keep doing good deeds without any need to look at these fotos.
I dont want to be serius.
Chetan : Well and good that if u r doing some good deed, without seeing this. But many of them do live in this world, without knowing abt these ! Probably act as if they dont know !
Sumi...I m going through all your past blogs..im commenting on the I am sick post on starving...Pathetic..real pathetic...Im feeling sick now....
